Loving Farm Life

Christ Kauffman of Loganton, PA, has been providing Alderfer customers with organic brown eggs that you can trust for over 10 years. Christ mentions that he loves all areas of farm life and that it is not only in his blood, but in his heart.

Christ started raising chickens and partnering with the Alderfer family in 2007. He was introduced to Alderfer Poultry Farm through his neighbor, Ben Stoltzfus. After talking with Mike Alderfer, Christ was very pleased with the situation that the Alderfer’s offered and said that everything just fell into place after that.

Originally, Christ started in the chicken business because he wanted more income. However, he soon came to love the business and takes pride in his chickens. Christ goes on 3-4 rounds a day through the chicken house, making sure that the chickens are doing well and that they are well-cared for. It is through these interactions that Christ gets the most encouragement because he enjoys being with the chickens.

Christ also loves that this business can involve his entire family of 9 children. Everyone participates in some way whether it is collecting the eggs, walking the houses, or assisting in some other way on the farm. The Kauffman farm consists of 75 acres and in addition to chickens, they also have a 40 cow dairy business.
